Nonverbal cues or signals are communication
messages sent through movements and gestures
of body parts such as the head, face, shoulders,
hands, arms, legs, and feet. Cues can also be sent
through grooming, dress, and the types of accessories
and possessions one has (e.g., clothes,
jewelry, furniture, office space and location, and
personal belongings).

Verbal exchanges account for only a fraction of the messages people send and
receive. Research has shown that between 70 and 90 percent of the entire
communication spectrum is nonverbal, including:
Body language
Physical environment; and
Personal attributes such as physical appearance; vocal cues; and touch.
