Every organization creates records, whether in paper, film, electronic record, or some other format. Records management helps an organization to make sure it is creating and maintaining an adequate documentary record of its functions, policies, decisions, procedures, and essential transactions. It
then helps the organization to decide which ones to keep and which ones to destroy and how best to organize them all. Hence it involves processes relating to the generation, receipt, processing, storage, retrieval,
distribution, usage and retirement of an organization’s records.
