A types of slip identified by Norman that occurs because the same controls are
used differently in different modes of operation. The error occurs when an
action that would be correct in one mode is executed while unwittingly in
another mode. For example, making corrections in electronic text by typing over
existing text when you intended for the existing text to be pushed out to make
room for your typing.
